Biography
Julia Eileen Gillard AC is an Australian former politician who served as the 27th Prime Minister of Australia from 2010 to 2013.
She previously served as the 13th Deputy Prime Minister of Australia from 2007 to 2010. To date, she is the first and only woman to hold either office in Australia.
Early Life
Born in Barry, Glamorgan, Wales, to John Gillard and his wife (private, still living), Julia emigrated with her family to Adelaide, South Australia in 1966 on the Assisted Passage Migration Scheme, colloquially known in Australia as Ten Pound Poms due to the payment of £10 in processing fees to emigr
